"I have to say I don't give this school any stars. I've had nothing but horrible experiences with my 3 children attending this school. My daugther then in 3rd Grade was hurt really bad in gym class a fellow student rammed into her extremely hurt and on purpose nontheless. He knocked her unconscious and bust a vessel in my daugthers eye. that's not the worst part, the school never even notified me until I showed up at the school to pick them up and my daughter was missing from her class, they had her sitting off to the side when the gym teacher approached me to say 'it's not as bad as it looks' My daughters eye was swollen shut. Never took her to the Nurse, Never called me nothing. Then the excuse was 'it happened at the end of the day' Her teacher wasn't even told about this."

"Well my son started PS24 last year in 5th grade coming out of private school. He hated it, had 2 fights within the 1st 4 months, 1 suspension and hated everyone and everything about it. He's never fought or been suspended for anything. I must say that the principal and staff are really trying to work with the students and parents that's why I gave it 3 stars. But hey, if the parents don't show or participate or teach their kids any better the school will not improve much. Parents definitely need to be involved, share and help. After 2:45 kids go home to their mayhem and bring it to the school with them daily. It's such a chore to find a good school without paying large amounts of money."

"This school's got a bad rep, but my experience here has been fine. I was scared to send my kid here, but so far she's had a positive learning experience."

"Great staff, but obviously poor parenting. The other reviews aren't fair to the warm and caring staff of PS 24. The trouble is this school is zoned to the worst low income housing around (the system fails again). The troubled children are not of any one race dispite the fact that the school is predominately African American (oddly the staff is not). Half the kids seem to have behavior disorders or just a lack of respect for adults, themselves and each other. The parents curse out the kids on the way to school IF they walk them at all (I personally see this often!). Too many of the kids belong in high school but have been left back too many times. Expelled kids wait for friends in front. My kid would be grounded NOT running the streets. I'm trying to get my kid out of there. Again, it's not a color issue."

"THIS SCHOOL IS NOT GOOD. Before I transfered my child into the program, I phoned and talked to a staff member. The staff memeber was very honest and said the children there were tough, the environment was tense. Having little choice, I sent my child to ps 24 within 3 weeks he had had 3 fights which garnered him suspensions because fighting of course is 'wrong' and it's politically correct to suspend both children who fight...This school needs serious work---the students academically were also behind many of the students in surrounding schools---no doubt due to the behaviors. I have now removed my child from this school---it was not as good place for him and I had no peace of mind while he was there. Previously my child attended ps 20 for 5 years and never had the kind of issues that ps 24 gave him."
