"Some of the teachers are the best in the state. There are a few to be desired... It's unfortunate that one of the teachers will say to her students that she hates this class, that they will never succeed in the real world, or that she hates being a teacher. The Math Department needs some work. Weak teachers, who don't enjoy their job. Why be a teacher if you don't like kids> English, Biology, Music, Art, History, and Chemistry Teachers are amazing. They genuinely care about their students and will go to any length to see them succeed."

"Unfortunately, unless you have the "right" Last name, your child will not play in sports. This school is a good way to break it to your children that in the real world, it's all about who you know."

"Johannesburg-Lewiston High School/Elementary School is the best place to learn. The teachers are very involved with the students. Everyone respects the teachers and the students. My favorite memories are with sports. My favorite memory was this past year, a triple overtime between Bellaire High School and Johannesburg. The girls basketball team was down by 15 going into the 4th quarter and one of the senior captians stepped up and put us into overtime. It was a very close game. She also put us into double overtime. And the last few seconds of the third overtime Bellaire threw up a shot and won by 1 point. Even though we lost, that was my favorite memory and will not be forgotten. Our sports program is one of the best programs. The coaches help you in sports and in life. There are a few things I would change, however they are too big to do and we do not have enough funding to do so. I would provide AP (advanced placement) classes for the students. I would love to come back to this school and have my kids to come and experience everything I did. What makes the school unique? The community. This past year we had an alumni have a massive heart attack while playing hockey. He eventually recovered and is now back to normal. The only way he was able to do this stuff is because of the community. They are very helpful and caring people. I love this school and the people in it. I would not trade it for any other school."

"This school is okay. I've been here my whole life and I know everyone in my class. Which can be good or bad. Everyone has a general dislike of eachother but we mind our own business and stick to our own. There are like 3 teachers that can actually teach and only one of them in math. There are not many student resources besides the computer lab which has an average of like 10 working computers. The only coaches that don't completely suck are in football and JV basketball. The food sucks all the time. The dress code is crap because they seem to be the only ones that have a problem with outfits that are deemed fine in other schools. But other than all that crap the school is good."
