"All this school is good for is the billingual. I think they don't have enough intellegence to teach anything but that. I have a child in the 1st grade struggleing with the REACH program. So somewhere in there it is falling through the cracks."

"I feel that this school is lacking the resources to teach the students accurately. I pay a lot of school taxes, and feel as though my child isn't learning anything. A teacher should do everything that is necessary to make sure a child understand. I know not all students will get it, but that is why a teacher should reteach, reteach, reteach."

"This is a great elementary school! It has an incredible bilingual program, grades PreK-5 (maybe because Sundown was the first school in Katy to offer a bilingual program). Sundown has also kept their art and music classes as well as physical education. In which such classes every student is introduced to a full range of instruments (music), sports (P.E.), and styles and forms of art. Sundown offers a preschool program for children with disabilities,as well as a regular preschool program. Students at Sundown participate in a variety of exciting instructional and enrichment programs: Junior Achievement; Accelerated Reader; Challenge (gifted and talented); DARE (Drug Abuse Resistance Education); grade level field trips;student council; and other activities. Also the parent involvement is awsome!Sundown participates KEYS(Keep Encouraging Youth Toward Success) program, in which adult volunteers come to the campus on a weekly basis to provide one-on-one tutoring. For more information visit the sundown website under katyisd.org."

"While there are alot of good teachers at this school the principal does not seem to enjoy his time there. At school functions he seems rather disinterested and you feel as if he would rather be anywhere but there. My children liked their teachers very much but did not understand some of the disipline rules in place there. One being that at lunch the tables have stop lights at the end of them and if just one student talks too loud or speaks to someone at another table or even gets up, the light is changed from green to yellow. More violations turn the light to red. The whole class loses recess time for this, up to 15 min out of 20. They must stand outside perfectly still during this time watching the others play. With only one break per day this can be extreme."
