"I teach at Maverick High School. I love this school and all of my students. Our principal, Nadine Leblanc is one of a kind, with a heart of gold. She's a great person, educator and leader. We help our students on a one on one basis, whenever possible. We also have direct instruction to reinforce our computer based model of learning. Students work at their own pace, with the teacher's guidance. A lot of our students have been to a couple of schools in the county and they tell us we are VERY different from anything of them. We try to motivate them, educate them, train them in socially acceptable behaviors, and graduate them. We try to get all of our students into college or a job, at the very least. We also have social programs to help them and their families. We are just a different kind of school, of which I feel privileged to be a part."

"My daughter is a current student at this school and she has gotten by far the best treatment than in any other public school she has EVER attended! The teachers are great & really care about the students. The key at this school is motivation & desire to learn. They provide the tools but you are working at your own pace and it's up to the student to do the work. My daughter is graduating this year and they are helping with her college applications and really motivating her to aim high. It has been the best boost to her self esteem to see what she achived by her own effort! Like I said it depends on the student, teachers are not miracle workers so if your child is not willing to work for it don't expect it but if the desire is there they will help them achieve their goals. I have had people judge my daughter because she goes to this alternative learning school and it makes me smile because I know my daughter is a very good student who because of the incompetence of her previous schools staff was bullied out of the high school she attended and I am so happy I brought her here! Thanks Mavericks High."
