"This school is an interesting school. Although the new principal here is not nearly as good as Ms. O'Hara, this school is still really nice. The trips our school takes are awesome."

"Lake Bluff Middle School provides a solid education. However, the school is lacking a good science lab and there are a few new teachers who are a bit 'green' and have a difficult time dealing with day to day discipline problems. The Middle School building itself is another matter, as it is really a few buildings of different architectural styles attached to one another. The school is in need of an overhaul. The Middle School will receive a mechanical upgrade, a new stage but no science lab upgrade."

"This middle school is an ideal place where the children learn about themselves under the watchful eye of caring teachers. The academics are top notch and the fine arts program is unparalleled by any middle school I have ever seen. The sports teams are slightly below average, but this doesn't seem to be the focus of the community. Parents can get involved in many ways at this school, from volunteering in classrooms to shelving books to leading a club. It is a school that focuses on the betterment of individual children and has a goal to help each child become a positive member of society, while preparing them for rigorous academic careers that lie ahead for most of them."

"Although the quality of the academic program is high, many of the teachers and the principal are ill-prepared and unwilling to deal with kids with even mild disabilities. We tried for nearly two years to get an IEP for our son and it wasn't until he had suffered a nearly complete emotional collapse from this school system did they initiate 'discussing' an IEP ON THE LAST DAY OF THE SCHOOL YEAR ! The school views many disbilities as 'bad behavior,' and although we were able to get a 504, many teachers chose not to follow it at all. The principal claims to run a 'tight ship,' but it is a school, not a ship and they are children, not sailors trained for battle."

"LBMS is one of the best school's. My children attended 2 other schools before LBMS. LBMS has a great philosphy of buliding self-esteem in children. Having the children create goals for themselves and following through to help them achieve those goals. They make sure each child is supported and praised for their accomplishments. At the same time teaching them responsibilty. Every staff member is always available when help is needed. My kids have gone from D-F averages (at other schools)to A-B averages (at LBMS). It just goes to show how much LBMS cares, gets involved in your childs education, and wants to see your child suceed. Mrs O'Hara is a strict yet fun principal that doesn't pull punches, she is exactly what the children of today need. She is the perfect balance and will be sorely missed next year! I hope she can find her double as her replacement! Thank you LBMS!"
