"Academically, it's a very good school. However sometimes it feels like thats the only thing that matters. Teachers put a lot of pressure on students to learn subjects quickly without any context. It's almost as if some times they expect you to teach yourself and then all they have to do is go over the subject matter quickly. When confronted about this, many teachers' responses are that they are teaching highschool/college courses and at this point in time the students should be able to handle the (unrealistic) workload of the class. They don't realize that while the work they assign might not be that much on it's own, when put together with all the other work from other classes it becomes almost unbearable. Another thing is that teachers are kept based on seniority. So basically if it came to the point where the school had to lay a teacher off, they would end up firing the good teacher who's beeun at the school for 3 years rather than the bad teacher who's been there for 10 years. It's all very annoying. Besides the academics, the art programs are quite successful as well( even though funding is minimal) and we have a variety of clubs and extracurriculars to join which is fun. There is a lot of stress on sports, however, so naturally that's what would be taking away from the arts programs. And only the sports that are deemed most popular. For example we were able to build new tennis courts in one summer for a tennis team that's barely succeeding meanwhile we've been toiling for 4-5 years trying to get a cross country course for a team who's managed to make it to states, fedrations and almost nationals consecutively for several years. I'm just focusing on the annoying parts of the school, overall it's a pretty good place to learn even if there is some trouble with being able to discipline students with multiple offenses based on the school code of conduct..."

"overall each high school is unique to each student. For me I have applied and involved myself to the best of my abilities, thus making high school a pretty positive experience. The only negative would be cattiness among some girls."
