"I came to this school in 9th grade after having been home-schooled every year prior. Needless to say, I was very intimidated to be in such a new environment and was quite concerned about how I would fit. Since that day, I have been friends with pretty much every single one of my classmates, and have even become best friends with students from the senior classes. I have never been bullied or felt as though I was disliked at this school. In fact, if anyone does dislike anybody, it is usually kept to themselves. If you feel as though you are an outcast or someone generally deemed unlikeable, you WILL find a group that you will click with. I wouldn't say that there are cliques at this school per-se...rather they are just large groups of people with similar interests that are more than willing to hang out with other groups. Most students are very academically oriented, so if you think you're the smartest kid there is--think again. You have got to work to stay at the top in this school. But even if you're not at the top, no one (except for maybe yourself) is going to think less of you. The homework WILL be challenging at many times and you WILL have long nights and days in which you spend a good thirty minutes crying, but I can assure you without any hesitation that it will be worth it. You will grow academically and as a person...and in most cases the latter is developed more largely than the former. The teachers are the best. They are all unique in their own way with many interesting quirks, but their one commonality is their commitment to you, their chil--I mean, student. Really though, a lot of the teachers may accidentally-intentionally consider them as your child. And you WILL have classmates that are relatives of the teachers. Although I myself have never partaken in any athletics, I know many of the athletes. Soccer is our jam...cross country, track-and-field, volleyball, and golf are a few of the other sports we have. We don't have football, but EC does!"

"In regards to academics, teachers, scheduling processes, and study options, it is the best. In regards to workload...that really depends on what kind of student you are. The academics are prime, up-to-date, and will make you legitimately more book and practical smart than a lot of your friends at other schools. The teachers are the best-of-the-best, and care for the students and their well-being (as well as success) a great deal. Tutoring is readily available (whether by teacher or by peer), and is generally very helpful for those who seek it out. The scheduling process is generally very easy, and if there ever is a serious mix-up (I've had one before) they are very swift to correct the errors and get you back in the right classes and the right periods. Now workloads are a whole other beast. The college-prep classes are generally quite manageable, even if you are not academically-inclined. Advanced Placement and Honors courses, however, are far more challenging. Even if you are very smart, you will find several days where it is difficult to complete an assignment to an impressive standard. You might find that you have less of a social and family life, but fear not, because once you definitely pass the AP exams you will feel as though it was all worth it. And honestly, if you have good time management skills and are willing to accept that B's and C's on an individual assignment here-or-there are not the equivalent of Armageddon, you'll do fine."

"The teachers at River Valley Charter School are awesome in the truest definition of the word. All of the teachers that I have had from 9th grade to 12th grade have been intelligent, respectable, diligent, caring, and effective. The teachers at this school sincerely care about the students as a whole and about each student individually. While they acknowledge the importance of procedure, they most certainly put their students' needs first. They are all very interesting people and quite fun to be around. With the exception of one or two teachers, you never feel intimidated by them or disheartened. They are all very encouraging and understanding, and have all taught at this school long enough to know the best curriculum to maximize their own teaching efficiency and their student's understanding of the content. I legitimately cannot think of a teacher whom I even dislike at this school."

"The teachers all work tremendously hard to ensure that students are putting for effort and growing intellectually, academically, and as an individual. They don't assign busy work and understand the importance of in class work translating or relating to the real world outside of school. The teachers show genuine care for each student and are always willing to set aside extra time after class to address any issues a student may be having."

"This school has transformed me into the person I am today. Without the many experiences I've had socially and academically, I would not have grown into the person I am today. I have gained confidence in myself and had space to discover my likes, interests, dislikes, and passions."
