"Please, do your child a favor and don't enroll them here. Most of the teachers love the smart kids and hate everyone else. The staff obviously wish they didn't work there and do nothing but complain. The principal is a self-absorbed control freak and overreacts to every little imperfection in the classes. Ever since they won that award two years ago, she's been bragging about it."

"If your child requires extra help with academics, then St. Joseph is not the school for them. With it being a small private school, they don't have the resources to help students who require specialized teaching. We opted to remove our child from SJS because their needs were not being met or addressed. If your child is an academic overachiever then SJS might be worth the price of private education."

"I am a proud parent of four children who attend St. Joseph School in Lockport. I also had a preschooler who attended the Four Year Old Afternoon Academy at St. Joseph. I noticed that my son was not as proficient in writing his alphabet. The letters were not clicking. After discussing with his teacher, we did decide as a family to have him repeat the program the following year. It broke my heart to see his friends, and mine, at the first day of Kindergarten, but looking back it was the best decision we could have made. I realize that he is more prepared and has only flourished more socially. I know by seeing his older siblings, it will only prepare him even more for the upper grades, as well. It was a very hard decision to make and I do know that in my heart it was in the best interest of the teacher and principal to help me make that decision. Honestly, I think it was hardest on me as a parent and my son has not been affected negatively by the outcome, only positively. He is very excited to be attending Kindergarten next year, with his brothers at St. Joseph School."

"i had my kid enrolled in preschool here and it was horrible experience, i wanted to send my kid to st joes all through 8th grade except the fact they wanted to hold my kid in preschool and not let him into kindergarten all because he was having some difficultly with writing. Whats the point of early childhood devolpment if right from the beginning you bring down a kid by wanting to hold him back in preschool. What do they teach here in kindergarten rocket science i though kindergarten was about learning the basics like writing tieing your shoes but not at st joes. So the just is unless your kid is a genius it is not worth it. Teacher parents communication is minimal at best and they leave you in the dark about everything until it is too late. I would not recomend this school to anyone"

"St. Joseph School was recently named a 2010 National Blue Ribbon School by the U.S. Department of Education. Really the best school in the area, and Lockport's best kept secret. A true dedication by the finest educators and staff contributes to the excellence in education. The families of St. Joseph School are just that - FAMILY. To say that the prinicipal Miss Scheffler goes above and beyond isn't enough. Her dedication and direction of SJS is truly her calling and mission. Her warmth, caring and passion is truly evident. All of the students love her! I can't think of a better place in the world for my children to spend their elementary school years. SJS is a blessing!"
