"Academics are pretty good at Walnut Grove. While we have less than ten AP classes offered, more are offered each year and what you can't take as a physical class is probably offered online through Georgia Virtual School. Teachers are usually good and they have decent curricula, and scheduling is a breeze. Almost every student knows what's required and, if they pass, graduates in time. No high school student is going to like the workload, and some classes can be a bit much, but it's manageable if you want it to be. The virtual school is good quality depending on the teacher and the student. Directed study is available to students so that they can specialize and further their knowledge in a field they are passionate about, and many teachers have designed directed studies for students to participate in. Their are also opportunities to assist in the science lab and to complete college credits through AP and dual enrollment in local colleges like UGA, GGC, and GPC. There aren't really popular classes, but most people do seem to enjoy the Spanish teachers and their is at least one teacher for each department that goes above and beyond for the students. While none of the assistant principals are popular with the student body, the head principal, Doctor Callahan, makes an effort to get to know each student and comes into each classroom every morning to greet the students. He's wonderful and incredibly fair to everyone."

"While I am by no means lacking as a student or a future member of society, I feel like quite a few of my classmates are. That's not to say it's anyone's fault but their own, however many parents seem like they're trying to be friends to their children or they're being absolutely psychotic about controlling their children. It makes it difficult to make friends who want to get somewhere in life or friends who are interested in having a good time and exploring the outside world. Parents typically attend games for the larger sports and the major play put on by the school each year is also a crowd bringer, but it can always be better. If you play a minor sport like track, cross country, or swimming, don't expect a major crowd. The parent organizations aren't particularly active, or if they are, no one hears anything about it. The PTO rarely does anything and the moms that are members tend to be gossip buddies instead of parents actually trying to positively impact the school and the area. Seeing other schools in the area and especially in surrounding counties like Gwinnett, Hall, and Barrow, the students here don't have a lot of opportunities through the school and, unless you and your parents fit a certain mold, it's not the easiest to get along at Walnut Grove."

"Unless you like to drink or play sports, it can be difficult. There aren't many things that students can do other than that. Most programs are not flexible with jobs. It's either you work or you're in an after school program, not a compromise. It can often depend on who your parents are, and if they're incredibly controlling or sheltering. Most of my friends are seniors and have curfews before midnight, are not often allowed to go places by themselves, and don't usually want to anyways. Some of my other friends party often and spend their weekends drowning in alcohol or at various college campuses with their friends partying it up. Peer pressure is a thing just like it is at every high school, and most people have at least tried alcohol. Racism sometimes occurs, but it's not like the school is in a constant state of racial debate. Homosexuality is not typically accepted by most males, but acceptance grows each day as it does in American culture. It will get better."

"Almost every teacher that I have had at Walnut Grove has been excellent. They are kind, intelligent, and capable of their positions. Most of them have advanced degrees and many of them are working on or have completed their doctorates, allowing them to offer their students vast amounts of knowledge. While it is true that there are teachers who could be better and some that should really not be teachers, that's true of almost every school and Walnut Grove does not by any means disappoint."

"My APES teacher is one of the best that I've ever had. She honestly treats us like her own children and helps us with any real-world problems we are having. She also teaches at UGA, so she is an extremely qualified teacher."
