"My "school" is really a prison. I have been accepted into great colleges such as Loyola University and College of Charleston but no thanks to this PRISON. This is a place where you are penalized for doing the right thing. There are fights every week. The bathrooms are the most unsanitary places I have ever entered. IF YOU LOVE YOUR CHILD DO NOT SEND THEM HERE! My biggest regret in life is attending Long Beach High School."

"As a current senior at Long Beach High School, I am truly amazed to even come across reviews that give any sort of praise to this school. Unfortunately, from my experience I have very few positive things to say about LBHS. Starting from freshman year, I have experienced countless problems with the staff, students, schedules you name it. I wish I could say things got better but they didn't. The students at this school are incredibly disrespectful let alone violent. Very often you will see fights break out in all areas of the school. The teachers spend the majority of their time reprimanding students making it hard for those who wish to learn succeed. Kids here DON'T CARE plain and simple. After debating over LBHS or private school my parents thought it would be best to put me into private school so I could excel amongst the others. This was not the case. As my high school career comes to a close I regret not going to private school and getting a proper education. PARENTS DO NOT ENROLL YOUR CHILDREN HERE. I promise you, if you do you will come to regret your decision SOONER than later."

"Long Beach High School has become a school which focuses its curriculum completely on the IB and AP courses. The vast majority of students are not prepared for college-level courses. Their reading levels and math aptitudes have not achieved a basic level of mastery let alone one which requires critical thinking. It's sad to see a school which once prided itself in taking care of all levels of students change its direction to one which ignores the needs of the vast majority of the student body. The lack of collaboration upon the administration's part has forced the aforementioned programs down the throats of the staff, students and parents of the community under the guise that this direction appropriate. The lack of leadership which acknowledges the true needs of the school and community has had dire consequences for close to a decade and a misleading effect for those students."

"The Principal, Assistant Principals, Guidance Counselors, Teachers and Staff members, have successfully guided their Freshmans, into a new first quarter of their education.. The Administration at Long Beach High School are well organized and attentive to the needs of their students and their Parents."

"I'm currently a junior at LBHS, and I have to disagree with the reviews on here. Long Beach is not a perfect school; it's far from one. But it's not horrible, if you know what you're doing. Yes, there are occasionally fights, but participants are suspended on first offense and expelled if the behavior continues. There are some scheduling problems, but the guidance department works to fix them as soon as possible. The key to succeeding in Long Beach is to enroll in challenging, higher level classes. Long Beach has a self-select program, so you're allowed to go into a higher level class if you want a challenge, regardless of your scores. Granted, if you failed regents biology, your guidance counselor will strongly urge you not to take AP Bio. Even so, you do have the opportunity to succeed. The teachers in these classes are great, and really provide a great learning environment. The school also has a phenomenal science research program, and a strong athletic community. Recently, the IB program was introduced, providing yet another way to further your understanding of the world. Overall, Long Beach has its flaws, but is still a very good school if you make the right decisions."
