"Everything that has been posted here about poor academics, excessive drug use, and bad counselors is simply not true anymore. The academic program is rigorous and hands-on in many classes. Students pay for the AP textbooks because the school district does not have enough money. If a teacher hears of financial hardship caused by situations like this, they find a way to get the student what they need within their means. There is some drug use at this school, as with most schools, but as a student I find it very easy to stay out of those circles. There are no gang problems. Students who struggle can set up an appointment in the counseling office with any one of the counselors and can choose to speak with a peer support counselor (a senior who is chosen and trained in confidentiality, listening, and problem-solving). Unfortunately, there is little racial and religious diversity at this school, but both students and teachers accept all types of students. There are a number of great clubs and athletic teams to join. Out of all the schools in this school district, I would happily argue that Berthoud High School is the best in balancing opportunity with community."

"They truly care about each student and do their best to support them. Proud to have both sons graduate from Berthoud schools. We are Blessed."

"Berthoud high school, while it may seem to be a great school due to its small size and academic standards, it isn't. This school has terrible budgeting issues that need to be addressed to be up to par with surrounding schools in the area. The focus on academic achievement seems to be lost within the athletic department of the school. Although budgeting allows for a new gymnasium, new paint for the lockers, and new seats for the indoor sporting events, many books within the school are far outdated, and for most AP classes, the students must purchase their own books because the schoolboard cannot afford an AP curriculum class set. The school will send a bus full of arrogant football players to games across the state, yet knowledge bowl funds are too low to transport students to meets within even the district. This school is not recommended for achieving students"

"Berthoud is a great school! It has caring, knowledgeable teachers, a fantastic principal who has been there for over 30 years, and many opportunities for involvement. Many Boettcher scholars have come from Berthoud."

"Berthoud High School is one of the best high schools in the area. The teachers and counselors truly care about their students, and work to help their students succeed in school. The school is smaller than others in the area, which means the staff gets to know the students very well and can help them. My son was not doing well in another school so we transferred him to Berthoud High and he did much better."
