"This school is full of hardened mean teachers that have been at the school for a very long time. The administration knows the issues with some very mean teachers who yell at and are nasty to the children. They do nothing!!! I complained about a teacher who was yelling at the students and was told of how long she had been teaching there and had never had a complaint. Really??.. I know 4 parents that complained previous years about her and one who pulled her child out to home school because the school would do nothing. My older child was terrified of her and did not have her as a teacher. The teachers put sooo much into the children with learning problems that the rest fall behind. The rich families seem to always get the nicest teachers in the school while the rest get really bad teachers year after year. Stay away from this county I have been here 12yrs & have 3 kids in 3 different schools here. The Primary is definitely the worst of all of them."

"It's disturbing that I have to rate this school as low as I do. We brought our children here because of the excellent reputation. We had such high hopes and were incredibly excited about our new town. We soon found it to be nothing more than an excellent public relations campaign. Students are the last priority. First and foremost is that false reputation at all costs, including your child's welfare. Second is making certain the teachers buy into it. And somewhere down the line they might do what's right for your child if you are a wealthy, prominent family in this small town. There are some truly wonderful teachers but any show of defiance against the administration is rewarded by forced retirement or being fired all together. I've watched many loving, creative teachers pushed out and replaced by hard, uncaring ones. What you don't hear about are all the good, loving families pulling their children out. They've learned after only one year how little the students matter and are moving them to other districts, placing them in private schools or homeschooling. If you want the best for your child, this district should not be an option."

"I have two children at MCPS and our family loves it! The greatest asset is the teachers. They are very skilled at meeting each student's individual needs and care for the students in and out of the classroom. Madison is a wonderful place to raise a family and MCPS is one of the reasons we are blessed to call this community "home!""

"We moved to this school because of it's wonderful reputation. I actually went to the school as a child and then moved away. My children were in a very small private school and I was very nervous about their transition to a larger public school. The school staff worked with me and my children in the summer to help make their transition smooth. The staff listened and addressed all of my concerns with thoughtful consideration. They were helpful and understanding to my childrens needs and the changes they were experiencing. I am so pleased with the way this school stepped up and made my children's first public school experience so wonderful."

"We moved to Madison b/c we were told this school system was the best in the area. What we did not take into consideration is that it was close to the bottom in the State. The teachers really focus on the children that are behind. Therefore, the children who are ready to learn new, challenging academics are still waiting for those to catch up. When we first came, the children in my child's class were just learning things that he/she learned in kindergarten at his/her previous school. My child was bored and for the first time said he/she did not like school. If I wanted him/her to be challenged, I would continually have to ask for enrichment. I thought that maybe it would be for only this year, but as I talked to other parents, they said they have experienced the same in upper levels of education. We have since moved."
