"Our oldest child is in 2nd grade at Emerson and it has been a great experience so far! Classes are kept small - less than fifteen students per class and there are often assistants in the classroom as well. The curriculum is strong and carefully adapted to for each member of the diverse student body. The teachers are dedicated and the principal is truly remarkable - a strong leader who is responsive to parents and has recruited great new teachers. The PTO is active - a small but growing and dedicated group. PTO has sponsored a number of family activities, including a carnival, plays, science night (big fun), and literacy night. The PTO recently led efforts to remodel the school library through a grant from a private foundation. The population is diverse with students from many income levels and backgrounds. A big challenge. We have been impressed with how well the staff effectively deals with these challenges and encourages respect and pride in Emerson students. We've seen the staff help solve conflict and implement proactive strategies to promote respect among students. In our experience, so far so good! We feel lucky to send our kids to Emerson."

"Emerson Elementary has the homor of teaching most of the children of the homeless in our area. Emerson steps up to the task but it is a challenge and extra money is always needed for supplies, etc. that these children can't afford. My daughter attened this school 25 years ago and they do a great job in teaching."

"Emerson is a fantastic elementary school; as well as serving the community, it's a site for children in transitional housing to attend school as well."
