"my daughter attended Marquette after moving from a different town and not knowing anyone. It was a very open and friendly school and many wonderful teachers who made her transition much less difficult."

"I am a parent of three boys that attended both Lapham and Marquette Elementary School. My youngest boy just had his leaving celebration as he goes onto O'Keefe Middle School. I know many of the schools in Madison and come from a family with 4 teachers in it and many great family friends who are teachers. There is not a better school than Marquette in Madison--though some I am less familiar with may be just as good. The politics of the recent era has caused principal turnover and the tragic loss of Barbara Thompsen to East High and the continuing east side school continuum is too bad but the staff and new principal and assistants and student teachers are all seemingly filled with an energy and a professionalism and a zeal to not overlook anyone. Special education is state of the art there and teachers work to create a community."

"2006: We have had a great experience at both Lapham and Marquette. The teachers, special needs teachers and the principal, Joy Larsen, are supportive and involved with students and parents. They look for the best way to teach each child regardless of district curriculum policy."

"Great school. Great special education department. Direct Instruction spelling helps kids learn how to spell."

"Our daughter just completed third grade and had a very happy and productive year. The principal, the teachers, the special education teachers, and the staff are professional, personable, and responsive. It seems as if faculty and staff know each and every child personally. Our daughter has an IEP, which was revisited this year. The quality and detail in the IEP was excellent. We were very impressed that the principal, Joy Larson, chose to attend our daughter's IEP meeting, along with her special education teacher and her classroom teacher and other faculty. Despite her limitations, our daughter ended the school year proficient in most every subject, thanks to the attention that she received. We are leaving Marquette and Madison this summer, but for parents who are searching for an excellent school in the Madison area--and there are many--we couldn't have asked for any more than we found at Marquette."
