"Lots of offerings compared to surrounding schools...choir, into to woods, spanish 1, art 1, band, physics, art 2, marching band, art 2, color guard, advanced woods, spanish 2, Baker College Classes: english, speech, psycology, sociology and many on line classes as well. Also, one of the best after school programs in the area."
"This school, in comparison to all of the other public schools in the area, is severely behind the times. Choices for electives are severely limited, and students with high potential are often restricted to simple classes that do not challenge them intellectually. The school's atmosphere is one of hostility toward all but the families that have been in Mancelona for decades, which is an extreme disappointment to newcomers. The school is rife with bullying issues and the attitude of both the students AND the staff is one that puts the entire state of Michigan to shame. The sports team is the only facet of the school that receives funding, putting both academic and elective classes to the wayside. If you're looking for a school that challenges and supports your child academically, with a relaxed friendly atmosphere and room for growth - seek another school. If you are looking to place your child in an infantile classroom with rude students, little challenge, no sense of community, and stunted growth - I suggest you reevaluate the needs of your child, or choose this school."

"I miss this school. Now that I attend Grand Valley State University, I feel that I have been prepared very well for the first year. I'm going to be honest and say that even though I graduated Salutatorian for Mancelona, I feel that I am a little behind the other freshman. But overall, it was a great school!"
"This is a fantastic school. It offers a lot of classes that fit almost every individual need. Most teachers are great and will do just about anything to help you. Speech is one of the best classes offered here."
"I agree Brooke, I love our school! The teachers are great and there are so many different pathways to see which career fits you. But, to earn good grades you have to work hard. 'You gotta burn it, to earn it."
