"I wouldn't choose to go to this school ever again. The schools administrators put way too much pressure on teachers and I feel like they are being bullies towards teachers. Its not the teachers fault ever if a student misbehaves in class. Teachers do not have control over students behaviors. I feel like our principal only cares about making herself look better. I also feel like a lot of things are swept underneath the rug. Especially our school's drug problem. Our schools administration is aware of the issue and has done nothing to bring it up. Our school is more concerned with diversity issues and such which is great, but I hate walking around going to my next class when some hallways smell of marijuana. Yes, diversity is a problem at this school, but it's a problem because we don't live in a city. We live in a suburb which naturally will have a majority of white people."

"My teachers at school are okay. I have connections with some of them. Its also nice to go and talk to teachers that I've previously had and ask them questions that I sometimes am afraid to ask my current teacher of that subject. Some teachers at school don't really know how to control their classrooms or sometimes aren't fair to some students especially student athletes. Our school's librarians are really cool and nice. They usually have to come to class and fix the computers which is sometimes annoying because I feel that teachers should be able to work their computers and smart boards properly. I notice that some teachers also forget to pass things back or sometimes they put things on our quizzes that we haven't learned yet. When students confront our teachers the teachers get upset and threaten to give out more quizzes and tests."

"I am a highly involved student at MHS and I am grateful for all the opportunities and classes that have been offered to me. From most classes I have taken, there are high expectations that I strive to meet. MHS motivates its students and offers many extra curricular activities to get the students involved. In my two years at MHS I have enjoyed the art, math, history and english courses I have taken, although I would improve the foreign language and science department. I love being on the Cross Country team, Winter and Spring track teams, student government, student council, site council, Model UN, Drama Club and National Honors Society. MHS is unique because of its character and dedication to improving students learning experience. I would not want to go anywhere other than MHS for high school."

"You will get what you put into Melrose High. Hard working and diligent students who challenge themselves and take difficult classes will end up fine. Students who are enrolled in the "CP" level courses will not get very much academically. The lower level classes are generally a waste of time, and do not help the students very much. The attitudes of both the students and teachers in "CP" classes is rather negative and is a terrible learning environment. The school has had many fantastic teaches leave because they either highly disliked the administration or received inadequate pay. There are numerous flaws in the school and it has very limited non- sports activities. Activities such as math team, chess club, drama, orchestra, and band always receive little to nothing. Additionally, it seems that the school's football team receives the majority of funding and has complete control of the outdoor fields during the fall months. The school food is rather awful. Due to the constant health and nutrition requirements, the meals survived at Melrose High are not worth eating. Students are better off bringing their own lunch or skipping this meal while at school. Although more regulations are being put into place, some of the teachers are not very good. They do not provide the drive to help students succeed. Despite all these terrible things, Melrose High does have a few benefits. The school offers numerous "AP" classes that help students earn college credits. Additionally, there are many sports programs that students can join. In conclusion, Melrose High is a lack-luster school that is still working out many problems."
