"Administration lacks the ability to treat students as equals, mainly the Principal and the Dean. They appear to focus more on the uniform policy rather than education. My child missed so much time because of their uniform policy he eventually failed from too many absences. This year they accused my child of theft without proof, I appealed and won. The next week, they sent him for another in-school suspension for something else. Not a detention or a behavior report, a full suspension (PAYBACK). I'll be appealing that too. Some advice for parents, APPEAL EVERYTHING and get proof to support their decision, do not take their word for it, they don't appear to make decisions based on facts, but rather their personal feelings toward your child. Quick note, In-School Suspension should be a day of instruction, but in reality the child misses a full day of school, sits in a room being quiet and does absolutely nothing. How to appeal: Meet with Dean, request hearing with Principal, if nothing happens, immediately call the school board and request an appeal BEFORE YOU LEAVE THE PARKING LOT. You only have 5 DAYS for that or the decision stands. Good Luck Parents."

"The administrarion at Adams Middle School is ridiculous. I wish they would put as much energy into teaching our kids instead of disciplining them for IDs and uniforms. The sole of a shoe or the color of shoestrings has nothing to do with a students ability to learn. Ms.Mahl, Ms.Bruce, and other teachers like them need to focus more on effective teaching and the children's need instead of picking with them and promoting FAILURE. This a SEVERE problem at this school and needs to be addressed by JPPSS IMMEDIATELY."

"My son transfered to Adams in the middle of the year from a private school. He has ADHD which the private school did not assist with at all. Adams has given him an inclusion teacher which sits in on most of his classes and makes sure he understands the directions and stays on task. She also calls us 2-4 times per week and is available for us to call at any time for explanations or clarifications. My son is happier and is now on the honor roll. We are glad we made the change. We do agree though that they focus too much on minor dress code errors. My son has gotten a detention for wearing the wrong color belt and forgetting his ID badge. The detention was not lessened even though we got the badge to him doing the first period."

"The assistant principal yells at the children when she thinks the drivers in the pick up line aren't moving fast enough. The assistant principal sets a terrible example by yelling at the children when she thinks the drivers in the pick up line aren't moving fast enough. The school does focus too much attention on the dress code. A detention for an untucked shirt or a forgotten student ID seems a little harsh especially since it is a 'good kid' who is in their first year of attendace and adjusting to the rules of middle school. Where are all the teachers who care about children and want to help them learn and grow?"
