"Even though the staff, for the most part, is very nice and compliant, nice and compliant doesn't help my son's grades. When some of the staff cant correctly pronounce simple words correctly, it makes me wonder what kind of education he will continue getting should he stay at this school. His knowledge of what he had learned at school and his grades did not seem to reflect the work he was doing at home; making decent grades in school but not retaining or presenting the knowledge at home. Primary colors should have been taught in prek or K at the latest. He didnt know what primary colors were. Like I said, the staff was very nice, no problem there. Now my husband and I are seriously debating on sending him to Walker Park or Monroe. My daughter had no problems here. She was in the Focus program and felt like she was properly challenged for the most part."

"Have two sons attending this school for the first time. Working to have them into another school come next year. Teacher in my oldest son's class plays Rap music & tells him to stop telling so much when theres the same kid bullying him around. My other son is very smart but the teacher cant keep him interested as he finishes his assignments & seeks more. This is not the place to be unless you wish for your kid to do just enough, be average or less and you don't expect much from the teacher."

"My children have been going here for 4 years. My child has had Mrs. Widmer for the past 2 years. She is the best teacher! Keeps parents involved and updated. My child has grown so much in her class."

"Blaine Street Elementary School is becoming a premier school. It is a Title 1 School of Distinction with great new teachers and a new principal who cares. I just wish they could get a new building that they so deserve!"

"My children are going to another school next year but I must say that last year was pretty low. The teachers as always did their best working with the students with no leadership. The climate at the school is very bad. I actually went to speak to the AP about how he was treating one of the best teachers there. I wonder what will happen to this school next year. It will be called Blaine Street Elementary and will be K-5 instead of K-2 as it has been in the past. I am glad to have my child out of there for next year. We have been redistricted to another school. Thank Goodness!"
