"Highlands High School continues to lower my thought on education. The staff has little to no control over the students, with these constant disruptions it is nearly impossible to garner more information from the staff. AP courses are offered and perhaps I focus on the issues rather than the achievements that are taken for granted. The standardized tests completely dominate our curriculum, this however is not the fault of our High School. The largest issue with this school district is how little they value our teachers. Last year nearly 40 teachers and staff were let go due to budget cuts. 18 did in fact return. This is not again the fault of the district but i feel they could have handled it better. Overall, I believe the school district does have room for improvement, but there are no schools in the country that do not. So overall I am happy with the school district mainly because of the teachers and staff doing what they can. Also, it is simply a friendly environment."

"As a former grad. of Highlands, I went straight to the workforce as an electrician. After a few years, I decided its not for me and went back to college. I find that Highlands did a great job in the English department, but failed in the Math department. I am learning basic algebra once again on a level I never had. This school also lacks discipline for certain students creating a bad environment. Furthermore, the restrictions on students is not condusive for saftey or learning."

"My children both attended the middle school and higlands high school. THere is not much attention given to the real needs of the children. And definetly not enough staff for the amount of students. Discipline has odd guidlines which seem to be quite flexible for some. The school lacks personable attention to both parents and students. And definetly lacks the attention to the real problems when it comes to the real needs of the students!"

"Guidance counseling - poor leadership in some areas. Not well trained in proper counseling techniques with students and working with parents."

"By far one of the worst math programs I've ever been a part of. I recently graduated Penn State with an Engineering degree, and I had to relearn all math skills I should have been taughted in Highschool. The music department is also going downhill with a lack of funding. Very dissapointed with how Highlands is turning out."
