"Growing up in NSB, my wife and I had good vibes about this place. We had been away overseas and out West and were happy to have our kids there when we returned. Problem is things have changed. Our child had a wonderful teacher for KG and first grade -then things went down hill for next two grades. This may have been due to the reassignment of the former principal. For instance, we were not notified about problems our kid was experiencing until we bumped into the teacher at special functions. Then we were given a laundry list -along with very subjective statements. After this we demanded regular conferences. We also discovered a bully situation that was not being addressed. We noticed that teachers blatantly played favorites with certain pet students. Something that really surprised us was the aloof nature of the parents here. I'm still trying to understand where this comes from but it says something about a lack of people schools that may be supported by the school."

"Boutique-like feel, with prof'l caring teachers. If your child is advanced you will probably have to supplement some at home. The PE, Art and Music teachers are great. The library is great, media center fine and the science lab is great. The negative is as of 2010 fall, a new principal was assigned, who shares her time w/ Chisolm.I have asked her direct questions about things going on in the school she has been unable to answer, and has not got back to me later time as promised. Other parents I have spoken to have shared similar experiences. She is nice, but it doesn't seem her "head" is in the school. The teachers are supposed to do leveling of students by ability, but we only experienced this in Mrs. Wassem's Kindergarten, the other teachers teach to the median so far. This is where strong leadership and holding teachers to task as a principal would be useful. There is no gymnasium, so the outdoor play area is sandy and their shoes get ruined and they come home full of bug bites if you don't put something on them in the warm weather. Overall, w e went to Sacred Heart two years and compared to that it blows it away, but I believe you should always strive to excel even more."

"If you have a child that doesn't need much guidance...this school will be fine, but never exceptional. My daughter did fine but as soon as my son started kindergarten it was one issue after another. Thank goodness for an amazing charter school nearby where both of my kids can thrive!"

"Coranado is the best school around. Teachers really work with your child. The principal is great. All the staff is helpful and after school program is great. I would highly recomend this school."
