"I can honestly say as a former student of what used to be called Claremont Prep (the name has changed as a result of new ownership), I was exceeding happy with my friends and scores. Everyone had a friend at the very least and was comfortable in the community. HOWEVER, the average test score was low (perhaps a B grade, even a C in certain subjects) and several A's were handed out freely to children who deserved no such grade. The administration makes no exceptions, and cruelly dismisses anyone who may not be able to pay the outlandish annual fees. Often, peers who went to public school or even another private school would scoff at me and my current material--we spend months reviewing in class and made little overall progress. This being said, I truly believe the new owners will rise this school to a certain academic standard and will no longer stand for whatever foolhardy ways the prior owners may have tolerated. I no longer attend this school, but do stay in contact with people who do!"

"I would like to reiterate what another parent has said, and say that my child has had an excellent academic experience at Claremont. The teachers are fantastic, a bunch of whom came from other rigorous NY schools like Hunter and Stuy. The new ownership will definitely be good for the school, and we are looking forward to September when school starts up again!"

"As a former Teacher at CPS, I believe that with the chance in administration that occured over the summer, the teachers will be given the support and attension they need to run a productive classroom. The grade level teams works hard together on curr. as well as integrating with the specialist teachers. There is no question that with the amazing facilities and staff that this school will become one of the best in NYC. There needs to be stronger lines of communication between administration and faculty. Once that is settled, CPS will rise to the occasion. The seperation of the, High School from the main building will allow the remarkable facilities that CPS holds to be utilized by all the students. I must comment on the Aquatics Director as I believe there is no doubt that he is the most driven, passionate and creative person perhaps in the whole building."

"The academic programs are excellent, and the staff is caring and professional. The facilities of the school are among the best that I've seen. I have found the administrators to be very responsive to parent concerns."

"A truly awful educational experience. My child was in Claremont Prep for 3 years. While the teachers are very good and caring in general, the administration is not - it caters to the middle and no allowance is made for anyone out of the average ! I see this school evolving into a truly mediocre one, where average students go. This is not meant as a angry rant- rather, it is a counterpoint that an interested parent may want to look into."
