"I've received an amazing education from this school with few gaps in knowledge. Teachers are generally caring and intelligent, and classes are small, intimate, and filled with discussion. I can't pick out an exact favorite memory, but class discussions about poetry are revealing and riveting. The utilization of Socratic Seminars advances learning in a way that is not pedantic. The administration, however Does choose favorites. It often discriminated against certain students and pucks on them. This is hurtful and it impedes growth in learning and enthusiasm in school pride. This hinderance would make me reconsider going to this school, in retrospect. The French teacher, in particular has obstructed my comfort level in the school. Furthermore, the school isn't accepting of modern beliefs or reforms. The outdated "feminist" views enrage me, because students are taught, at an all girl's school, to act/ dress/ present oneself as "ladylike," defining the term in an antiquated and often offensively constrictive way. But I would not trade this experience for a different one. Students push one another to excel, and teachers aid in many aspects of growth. The guidance counselors are exceptional at their jobs."

"Many teachers at this school have inspired me. For instance, the English department consistently fosters my love for the language and for literature, furthering my development through immersion into the subject and various pieces of different movements (Romantic, Modernist, Victorian, Beat, etc.) Also, the history department is a gem. Particularly Mr. Glenn Stordeur stands out as a man who goes above an beyond his duties as a teacher to make sure his students feel heard, appreciated, cared for, as well as disciplined and knowledgable. He is a fantastic teacher. However, the decision to employ member of the administration as an economics teacher was an ill-advised one. This teacher is unable to clearly express her ideas and does only the bare minimum to teach the students enough to have an exam that consists of a suitable number of questions, many of which use a different phraseology than that which we've studied. The language department is hit or miss. Although I do not take Spanish, I can personally account for the supportive and generally benevolent nature of Mrs. Harrington, as she was my hometown teacher. The former Latin teacher, Mrs. Clark was truly a genius. She was crotchety and blunt, but she was amazing at her job and the most knowledgable person I've ever been lucky enough to have met. The current Latin teacher though, is not as laudable (from the Latin, to praise, as I learned from Mrs. Clark). She consistently makes me feel uncomfortable in her class and often comes to class unprepared without lesson plans. The French teacher is very smart, but she has a personal conflict with me and takes that out on how she grades my assignments, and how she treats me in class. Overall, I'm grateful to have had as many good teachers as I have, but there is definite room for improvement."

"Some are wonderful and some are too strict. Their pickiness gets in the way of teaching and comes off as meanness."

"Mr. McDonald, Ms. Ayinde, Ms. Walters, and various of the other teachers are amazing. They are really good teachers and they know how to teach really well."

"I would not recommend this school to any girls of color because I myself am one, and had a bad experience. The students of color at this school are limited and they are singled out when it comes to certain events and activities. Certain teachers at the school label you based on who you hang around and judge you. The school is not worth the money it charges and I often wish I did not spend as much money on this school as I did, having not enjoyed my experience."
