"My son seems to get about 4-5 hours of homework every night. Most of the work is busywork and much of it is dropped on them at the last minute. His teacher is the meanest teacher I have ever encountered. My son was at a 6th grade reading level in the 4th grade but because he is shy. It took us several months to figure out why our son was always bringing home books he had read in the 2nd and third grade. Miraculously, she re-evaluated him later in the year and said he was now at a 6th grade level and could read more challenging books. Unfortunately, he now hates reading. We have seen our son go from absolutely loving school to detesting every minute of his social studies , language arts and reading; the same teacher for each of these courses. This teacher takes recess at the drop of the hat. Our son has always thrived in school and still does well with other teachers but for some reason, with this particular teacher, he can t even turn in assignments. Mind you, he has them completed. He just waits for the teacher to say pass them to the front. She plays childish games and expects the kids to know when to turn in assignments based on the PIV (online system)."
