"I came from a strict Christian based school into public school. I found the students here easy to get to know. The lax attitude towards learning was a bit strange to me, as I came from an environment where it was very popular to be smart. All in all, I do like this school very much! What makes our school unique is the restoration efforts on these beautiful buildings! Also the library has beautiful art in it. I really like my public high school experience so far. I will always love Newport Harbor High School! Go Sailors!"

"Newport Harbor is great, but one of the biased things of the administration/ teachers is the dress code policy. The teachers who enforce it often have favorites and only choose to dress code certain people based on how much they suck up to the authority."

"Newport harbor high school is located in a quite rich area which places those who are less wealthy at a disadvantage. Often when applying for a club or leadership position, activities out side of school are put into consideration. While those who are struggling financially get turned down due to their inability to afford expensive clubs, programs, or trips; those who are well off financially get accepted due to their ability to afford such leisure. Personally, I have witnessed a financially well off student cheat on a test and when I told the teacher nothing happened to her grade and she was accepted to a club I was declined from even though I was in more school activities and had higher grades. This same teacher was extremely impersonal. She would complain about small problems in her life fit the majority of class but when a student would obviously be upset she would do little to nothing. On one occasion a student ran out of the classroom crying and she assumed there was something else going on in the student's life when it was actually the teacher herself who had caused the problem. During a science lab, it is the teacher's responsibility to keep student's safe. Lab coats are given to everyone for their safety however there was an occasion where a student put his hand in the pocket of the coat and took it out to discover it was covered in blood and glass shards. There had been glass shards in the lab coats pockets and there has even been algae growing in the sink. Also, I personally have witnessed teachers unnecessarily yelled at students, some of whom were autistic, which often resulted in tears. Due to these and other events I shall not list, I must rank this school as bad, with only the few understanding teachers bringing the ranking up."
