"We have moved in the neighborhood couple of years ago and our son started at the Memorial Spaulding School's 1st grade class. So far we have been very happy with our decision to move here and with school. The teachers our son had so far have been excellent and communication with them has been very good. Our son needs Special Ed help and it has been superb so far! The PTO involvement at the school is great. ASCA : an afterschool creative arts program that is initiated by PTO and lets kids try themselves at arts, sports, chess, cooking and many other things after school."

"I certainly agree with the previous comment regarding the dedication of the PTO and the Staff at the School. I have a child with special needs at the school and find the previous comments regarding Special needs Children offensive or appeared offensive . There is no more emphasis towards Special Needs and yes it's mandated. If you had a child with Special Needs you would certainly advocate for your chikd and also hope that your child would be included and not excluded from the riches of School Education and making Friends. It's extremely important for our kids to accept others with differences and create a community of acceptance or perhaps getting your chikd ahead is more important."

"great school because of the dedication of the principal, the staff and the PTO. students from 30+ cultures and nations make up this community which is a huge asset found only in Newton/Boston area. the earlier review is about the old principal. this school is far better than a few years ago. best PTO volunteers ever. yes it does put emphasis on helping special needs children but that's mandate by the state, right? most kids i know go to after school enrichment programs to help them get ahead and newton has so many of them right here."

"This is an extremely poorly run school. I worked here for a year and it had to be the worst teaching experience of my life. Don't get me wrong, the students are wonderful and I never felt anything but supported by the parents, but the other teachers were a nightmare. The Principal is clueless and totally overwhelmed by her position. There was a few staff members, mostly the younger ones, who were friendly, but the majority of the staff were unwelcoming and extremely unfriendly. You could barely get a forced smile or nod of the head when you passed somebody in the hallway, and everybody was always talking about everyone else behind their back. I have never been around so many really sorry, pathetic people in my life. On my last day of work, I was literally singing as I left the parking lot, knowing I would never have to deal the these miserable people again. If you are thinking about getting a job there, avoid the mistake I made and go someplace where people know how to treat one another with dignity and respect."

"Excellent school, principal runs a very tight and orderly ship and holds teachers and staff accountable for excellence. Principal has created an environment of inclusiveness."
