"As an aunt of two girls who attend East, I have learned that there are more lazy teachers than good, that my nieces have one outstanding teacher for all their classes. WHY? Why are not all teachers excellent instructors? I have heard all about the drugs and sex that are prevalent in this school. I have heard about the rotten school spirit, the losing sports teams, the terrible teachers who are hired as 'coaches" And when I suggested they go to their counselors, they laughed and said how the counselors are useless. What is the principal doing? Friendly enough, but that is not working. He is leading Camp Runamuck! most distressing-"

"oh what a dilemma! we moved our daughters here after 8 years in Catholic school. They have been stagnant academically and turned off by about 1/3 of their teachers. There are a few young, and engaging teachersbut not enough. Those who have been at East too long ( principals and asst principals) are just biding their time, and the principal does nada- does not require any change in curriculum, or presentation. The guidance department is awful, disorganized and helpless. So, is this laissez faire or just LAZY FARE education? Time to return to "education" with value. Superintendent is tending less than super schools, but carefully minding the teachers union. NB 30% of parents are involved. Not the same kind of involvement that was at Catholic schools, or even neighboring public high schools- Rustin or Henderson."

"My children have had a great experience at East. The principal rules with a firm hand, is tough on drugs, alcohol and other issues and has the respect of parents & students. The teachers run the gamut, like anywhere - a good life lesson for my kids. The parents are really involved whether with sports boosters, band or general enrichment activities. I highly recommend East."

"I moved to East from a private school with much trepidation. I have found East to offer a wider variety of classes than I experienced before and the support for children with learning challenges or special interests (of which I have both) is great. Best of all, the parent community is involved and informative - trying hard to address the many questions we have."

"We recently made that switch from Private school to East and are very happy. I feel that my child is receiving an even better education in this public school."
