"I agree with the ratings that this school has a good education--however, the problem you can run into with a school this size, (under 40 kids) is that if the Director decides that a student is not well suited to stay, there is absolutely no recourse. Jan Taylor is the only voice of authority. In the spring, we were told that the environment was not well suited for him and not a good fit to conitnue in the fall. Ironically, my child was extremely happy there and was absolutely thriving academically. My theory is that Jan "cherry picks." She can toss the kids that may be more work (my child does have a ton of energy) and keep the kids that are ideal. She frames it as we dont have the services or support to manage some children--which is fair. However, my child does not have a learning disability and is not impaired in any way. Her decision absolutely rocked our world. We thought we were done--this was the school for him and we were going to enroll our daughter in the fall. I recommend you choose a school for your child that is large enough to have an oversight committee, or at least a couple layers of administration so you have recourse. This was a terrible experience for us."

"It is so bizarre reading negative posts about this school, especially the ones that mention "verbal abuse." As a parent who has not missed a field trip and visits the school often - that is something that I have never witnessed. Please, if you are considering this school for your child, take the time to meet with the director and the teachers. It is truly a beautiful school and they do an amazing job. It is a wonderful feeling dropping my children off for school each day knowing that they are getting the education, care and support that I had always dreamed they would get but never really thought existed. Many thanks to Jan and the teachers at Montessori Arts and Sciences for creating such a stimulating and nurturing environment."

"Imagine our joy finding a school that had a low teacher/student ratio, a beautiful natural environment and what we thought would be a solid cirriculum. Unfortunately, we very soon discovered that the teaching was inconsistent, assignments were rarely graded and the environment was filled with abusive verbal comments to the children, witnessed by me in person on several occasions. This is not the environment I would ever knowingly place a child into. If considering this school, please ask questions of several parents that have children currently attending the school and parents that have pulled their children from the school."

"It's such a pleasure to know my child's education is in Jan Taylor's hands. He comes home proud of himself and eager to go back to school the next day."

"I am a parent whose child attends this wonderful school. I think you should take a tour of the school and decide for your family. Yes one parent has left negative remarks but the majority of families writing reviews love this school. Not every school is for everyone, judge for yourself. Visit and talk to the other parents, have your child spend some time there, you will see that the five star reviews are true. I wrote "the only choice" because after going to almost every school in the community MAS was our first choice and we have been thrilled with the decision."
