"NOT ENOUGH INTEREST IN SAFETY OF STUDENTS! I called the principal & superintendent's office at the beginning of the 11-12 school year after I observed two pre-k students (whom I'd seen dropped off 15 minutes before) attempting to leave school grounds. One was standing on the curb to the lot looking lost & the other was running across a field toward the street. I took both kids back inside to the secretary, told her I knew the teacher was late & the door to her class was locked. Called the principal to let him know what happened & asked him why there are no adults monitoring the arrival of students. He said it was a great idea & that he'd ask some parents to volunteer. This answer was not good enough! The school did not tell the parents of either girl what happended either. I contacted the super's office & was told they were working on a solution to this issue & they would keep me informed. Guess what? Now we have 5 weeks left & there is STILL no safety plan! One parent stood at the door to the office for a few months, but now he's gone too. I want to know that when I leave my kid at school, they're safe. Sadly, this school falls well below the mark on safety."

"Sadly, I can give Putnam Heights only 1 star. Though many of the teachers are good and do their best, the principal is absurdly inept. My kids attended for three years, and I had to make calls to the administration multiple times each of those years. He talks the talk, but unfortunately doesn't come close to walking the walk, and the last thing he wants is engaged parents. With the departure of the reading specialist, who basically functioned as the principal, I'm guessing the school with go farther downhill. For the sake of the students, teachers and parents, I hope the administration makes leadership changes as soon as possible."

"I've heard talk about the administration not being all it's cracked up to be. Recently I've heard there is an investigation into the principal and his practices at Puntnam Heights. There just seems to be too much buzz about how terrible he is to not be some truth to the matter. My face to face encounters with him and also been a little unnerving. He seems to tell people what they want to hear without any clear understanding of what he's actually talking about. I have a feeling his office chair is a little too cushy for him and he expects excellence from his teachers and kids, but does not actualy embody excellence himself. It seems kinda like a double standard. Is that what we want our kinds to learn?"

"I didn't like at Putnam Heights because the music teacher always gave me a bad grade even though I would sing with the other students and all we had to do was sing ,I think she just never saw me singing but I still find it messed up that she gave me a bad grade, I had lots of math work because I could never understand what my teacher was saying and the PE teacher made the students dance and the songs were super annoying and then the students had to do ballroom dancing and and didn't like it, I would not complete work so I could be sent somewhere else and work on my work instead of dancing and I hated the uniform it looked weird"

"Having taught at Putnam Heights for several years I can say whole heartedly that it needs a leadership overhaul. Yes, the teachers care and go above and beyond for each and every student. However, the principal is an embarassment to education and is dragging the heart of the school down. Should OKCPS review the current leadership roles and their ineffectiveness on teacher moral, best practices, and implementation of age appropriate academic programs, PH has the potential to be a wonderful school. I hope for the sake of the community and the students that progress can be made."
