"Although all of the adults are highly involved, there is an unfair advantage to a certain group of students over others. Those not in AP classes do not receive the same quality of education as the other students. However, those in AP classes do get a good opportunity to enjoy a good education."

"My overall favorite experience at Point Loma High School is being able to interact with my class and being involved in activities, sports, and various clubs on campus. Point Loma High School is unique because it is in a great location, staff members, counselors, and teachers care about your education and well being, and the students are all so talented and driven. I would choose to go to this school all over again because I love PL. All of my teachers were understanding and helpful. The staff members cared about you and vice versa. For example, our former vice principal, Mr. Becker unfortunately had to take a leave of absence and while he was away the whole school helped in creating "get well" cards and we even had a day to wear maroon and gold, our colors to support our VP. It gave PL a sense of community and oneness."

"The majority of the teachers do their job teaching."

"The AP teachers at this school are overall very exceptional. They know how to incorporate real world examples and current events into their teaching, and they allow students to have original ideas and fuel discussions about important topics. The communicate their expectations and grading policies very effectively. The do expect a lot from their students and are not always impartial when they see students with little to no value in their own education."

"The teachers at Point Loma High School are not always the best. Mostly all the math teachers leave right after school to pick up their kids which is completely understandable but they send us to the library to get tutoring from three tutors that go to our school and there are 20 or more students usually there so not everyone gets help. Some teachers actually put time into making sure their students pass and understand the material. They sit one to one and teach the lesson to the student that needs help with anything but not all teachers are like that. Now students are scared to ask for help from their teachers because they expect you to know the subjects and get annoyed when you ask a question."
