"I do not recommend this school for your student unless your kid is really self motivated and willing to give up the best years of his/her life this is not the real high school experience and while the test scores are high I am concerned by the low retention rate and the fact that the school is not serving the population it was intended for. Instead of working with first generation college students and low and at risk students the bast majority of the kids at this school come from professional households and already have access to the opportunities that this school offers."

"I would not recommend this school, I am a freshman, English is well taught but Biology is taught unorganized and teachers expect extremely highly of students, the slightest thing would get you looked down on for example; forgetting your i.d. only one day, all the teachers/ staff seem to care about is academics. If you're going through a hard time they'll basically say "just go to college". I am hoping to transfer as quickely to Quartz Hill high school as possible."

"Looking at the previous reviews listed by these Sophomores, it seems their English skills need work."

"As a Sophmore attending SOAR High School i feel like this was the best choice i could have made to attend SOAR high school. Everyone is extremly close and it makes school fun and enjoyable for EVERYONE. We dont have all the drama other schools have, we still have everything a reguar school has except for sports , but we ca nstill go watch AVCs sports for free . we get special privilages other school cant have becasue of our size and we get free things on campus all the time. Its two free yrs of college so you cant really complain. Having such a small classes allows for us to get personal attention and help when needed . The principal and teachers at school high school watch out for all the kids and support us in anyway needed , whether its academic , extracuricular, or personal . The school is pretty easy but demanding , if you dont keep up you will get left behind."

"I am a sophomore at SOAR now and I feel that this was the best decision I have ever made. SOAR doesn't cater only to underrepresented people or families of low socioeconomic status, there is a mixture of races and there are people who so happen to have more money than others. But that isn't what is being focused on at this school; as long as you are dedicated, have a good work ethic, and are a generally well rounded person, SOAR is a good place to go. The school grants you all the help you will need to survive college AND high school. The teachers are there all the time and each and everyone of them will take the time to help you. SOAR has helped me rethink education and look at it as a means to propel myself forward in this difficult world. I wouldn't ever change my mind about this school and I am glad to having been accepted into a revolutionary program."
