"My favorite experience is being at Marshall for so many years. Mostly everybody attended since middle school, and I felt a great sense of community and family. Also, since the middle schoolers are integrated with high schoolers, there was less of a pressure when transitioning into a "higher education". We have a pretty good range of clubs and I also appreciate that Marshall values their arts department. During my years the Marshall Arts (haha) department has grew into something great. Hiring of new, and passionate music instructors, new renovations of the music departments, and establishing our first self run musical, Marshall is definitely the alternative school that values art over sports. Although, we are great in arts we are also pretty good at some of ours sports like soccer and tennis. There is definitely strong diversity present in students as well as faculty. Overall, I would definitely attend Marshall again."

"All the teachers interact with the students and provide the attention that students need to succeed. Many of them have had experiences before working here and have developed skills that make the class efficient. However they also provide advice to students when in need of a neutral support or advice on what to do in the future."

"They did not really care what we did while in class"

"Marshall is known for their academics, not necessarily for the teachers but for their huge range of AP classes they offer for a public school. However, there is a definite divide over the quality and effort of teacher who teach AP/honors classes vs. regular classes. I was always in AP classes, there are a handful of teachers that go above and beyond with their teaching. The teachers (probably stressed by the district and administration) base their curriculum around what is going to be on the AP test and rarely spend time on things that won't be on the test. There is a noticeable fall in coursework and more lenient grading after first semester, but I feel like the teachers did prepare me for my college coursework. I definitely still struggled adapting to the quicker pace of the college world, but the exposure to higher level of thinking taught by the teachers did ease my transition. Lastly, since Marshall is a middle school and a high school and has a relatively small school population, some of the teachers teach both middle school and high school courses and are able to gain a better connection with the students on a personal level."
