"Terribly disappointed in DMS. Kids have no consequences for bad behavior, most teachers are unresponsive and appear to be uninterested, and the principal seems to be more interested in marketing than educating. The only good thing I can say about the school is that they do have an excellent music program."

"If you want your student to have 5 different math teachers in one year with no communication or explanation, kids smoking e-cigarettes in class and a lack of communication with the teachers and administration, send your kids to Davidson. There is a complete lack of accountability for the teachers and administration when they do not respond to e-mails or phone calls. If you want Science teachers who refuse to use the Internet for posting grades because "It is too much extra work" and English teachers that tell their students that have no time for extra help get on board. We failed our child by choosing Davidson for 6th grade. Luckily we can choose something different for the future and will not attend for 7th or 8th grade. Do not believe Harriet when she tells you your child will do fine. They are teaching to the bottom and are pulling the top down with a commitment to only teach to the standards and not to do anything extra for a student that is ahead of their class. They will quickly join the mediocrity of the standards."

"My son is in the 6th grade. Like many parents whose child attended an excellent elementary school, we were somewhat apprehensive about our son attending Davidson. As it turned out, our fears were unfounded. Here is my overall assessment. PROS: His teachers range from adequate to excellent. He particularly likes his math and PE teachers. The school is well run. The kids seem generally respectful considering their age. The music program is above average. Excellent library facility. CONS: I would like to see better supervision of the playground during lunch. Our son's science teacher is a rookie and could have used more training/experience, though he is adequate. The campus could use more sprucing up in spots. The asphalt walkway between two buildings is cracked and loose."

"This school is terrible. There is no emphasis on safety and/or making smart choices. There are even used birth control mechanisms under the bleachers. THIS IS A MIDDLE SCHOOL IT IS UNACCEPTABLE. There are no advanced courses and it is a bore for students who actually put in effort. Make the smart choice and stop looking at this school, all that will come will disappoint."

"I have a daughter in 6th grade. Her classes are ridiculously easy, and even then half of her classmates can't do anything. Every day she comes home telling me stories of disruptive and disrespectful behavior, and these kids never get sent to the principal! Unreal. She zips through her work and spends most of her time helping her classmates with their work. This school seems to view my daughter like some unpaid tutor! I asked if she could be moved to an advanced English class. No dice. They don't even have advanced classes at Davidson! WHAT A JOKE!!!! The one bright spot is her pre-algebra class. But now I hear the school plans to eliminate geometry, which is what she's on track to take in 8th grade!! So what math class do they expect her to take in the 8th grade? Nothing? AGAIN, WHAT A JOKE!!!! My husband and I are DEFINITELY going to be sending her to another middle school for 7th and 8th grade!"
