"My school is positioned right at the border between Texas and Mexico. Consequently, there is a very large Hispanic/Mexican population. This is not necessarily a bad thing, as I have learned to appreciate the culture and resent the negative stigma placed against these often humble and hardworking people. However, being white in such a predominately Hispanic/Mexican population makes me a black sheep, and I often feel alienated because of this. The culture can also be very conservative, with a heavy Catholic influence. As a result, gay marriage is largely frowned upon and a large percent of the population lean towards the Republican party. Its not that I condemn these traits, there's just a lack of diversity to counterbalance them."

"The teacher at Robert Vela High School have great communication skills. Not every single teacher is consistent when it comes to the grading process, there is room for improvement."

"Teachers at my school engage students with a down-to-earth mindset that makes them easily approachable. They are friendly without being patronizing, which gives the classroom a welcoming atmosphere. The only draw back to this is that their good nature can be taken advantage of, with students being excessively loud and failing to pay attention. However, this has had little impact on my experience and I feel confident in my education."

"My school offers classes ranging from Regular to AP in order to suit the needs of each student. They also provide Dual Enrollment classes, which give college credit for local universities to further promote college readiness. The workload for each class increases with each level of difficulty. Being in all AP classes, I can't think of a time when I don't have homework or a project to work on. That being said, it is not busy work, and the carefully picked assignments helped me pass my AP tests last year."
