"I am currently a teacher at Grover, and would have to disagree with some of the comments posted. While it is unfortunate that some people may have had poor experiences at this school we cannot judge the entire quality and commitment of the staff based on these situations. I have had the opportunity to work with some of the best teachers in Philadelphia, and most of my co-workers are dedicated and committed to the success of our students. Teaching in a middle school can be challenging with many of the strong personalities we encounter. However, despite these challenges most of my colleagues and I do what we can to provide a positive learning experience for our students. This school has a lot of potential, we would greatly appreciate more volunteers and community mentors to help make this a more successful school."

"I think that grover could do a whole lot better. The teachers don't care about our education, the kids care less, and the staff is not so friendly and never wants to hear your side of the story if an adult gets into an argument. They just write them up and the student doesn't really learn their lesson by getting punished. That school is oh wow... And i still have one more year to go."

"I am a substitute teacher for the Philadelphia School District. My experience at Grover Washington Middle School is perhaps the worst I have ever had. Support is nonexistent. The kids run wild and when there is a disruption in the classroom you better not call the office for help. More often than not, no one comes to help. This school is out of control. I was there for two weeks and saw the principal only one time. Stay away from this school if you can."

"I am a former teacher of GWJr. I have to agree with the parent that said that this school has had a great decline in both academics and behavior over the past few years. The administration should be ashamed at how the school is run. Some changes in the powers that be are greatly needed! By the way... class size is 33-35, not 22 as stated on this site!"
