"As a former student of South Mountain, I have firsthand knowledge of what type of school it is. To be frank, SoMo is the type of school where, if a student is not personally motivated to strive for excellence, he or she will not get the help necessary. In other words, if he or she is not enrolled in honors/AP classes, which typically have the best teachers, they WILL not receive all the necessary skills to be able to compete with other students at the college/university level. It seems as if the school as a whole is content with merely getting students through its door, not bothering to prepare them for an education beyond SoMo. Furthermore, the academic counseling is subpar in many instances. As a senior, I spent months preparing a scholarship application only to be disqualified for it because my counselor didn't complete my nomination form."

"South Mountain has a wonderful staff of teachers. It also has some of the top magnet programs in the state. Many people place SMHS under the 'rough' school category, but that is not true. The students are really well-behaved and dedicated to their studies."

"South Maountain HS has not shown me as a parent that they care about the students. Since my sons have been going to this school I have not received any notices if something was wrong in a timely matter. If there is something that we need to know they let us know weeks later. I feel that this school is about making money off of a head count and they do not care about the students education."

"As a parent I could not be more pleased with the level of education in which my son, neices and nephews have received while attending High School. South Mountain High School has proved itself to be the top in academics. The level of academic programs is number one in my book. When a child can learn to fly a plane, become a lawyer or even learn any of the arts which includes music recording, radio and television announcer all for free what's not to like. Quality education freeE career pathing. What more could a parent ask for?"
