"Worst school I have ever seen. I am a former educator, and I sent my daugter to Sunrise for seventh grade. She came home everday and begged me to let her switch schools. The dress code is not at all enforced and bullying is a major problem. Unless your child is in the DLC, the standards for their performance are extemely low and the teachers are unenthusiastic. My daughter was teased because she bought her shoes at Target and because she did not have a boyfriend at 12 years old. Both the students and the staff of Sunrise are horrible."

"Sunrise and the DLC have been wonderful for my child. The teachers in the gifted program (Graham, Seretis, Binder) are top notch. Not only do they do an amazing job teaching the kids and prepping them for high school, they accomplish the miracle of keeping middle schoolers engaged. Mr. J of Soc Studies is also one of the best teachers I have ever seen. As for the school environment, it is very safe. As with anywhere, if you go looking for trouble, I'm sure you will find it. Otherwise, it"s fine. One note, if your child enrolls in the DLC, he/she should be prepared to work, but if they do it, the rewards are many."

"The vice principal is absolutely unprofessional and not understanding of parents' unique circumstances. She simply does not care or want to be bothered by "babysitting" students that attend Sunrise. I am extremely sickened by her lack of empathy and rude demeanor. Sunrise would be a better school without this horrible vice principal."

"Do not send your child to this school. Rating it one star as it wont rate lower. Just horrible. We encountered uncaring, unknowledgable teachers who taught only to the test and a completely clueless principal and administrative staff. The principal tried to intimidate us into not calling the police when a gang of male students surrounded my child and friends on the sidewalk in front of the school. We called anyways. After that our children suddenly became discipline and conduct problems. We actually had one teacher tell us our child deserved an F for questioning any teacher. The best part of this school was leaving."

"I think that this school on the most part is pretty good. Mr. J of Social Studies is one of the best teachers I have ever had. He goes way beyond the standards with mind engaging projects on thought provoking discussions. Would NOT recommend the DLC to most students. If you're really into computers and that sort of thing, its perfect for you, but if you want to have a fun time socially stay away. The math programs go up to Geometry, and give a high school credit for Algebra and Geometry. All of the current math teachers are great. Overall, great school."
