"It's a good school. But I think the teachers think it's better than it is, or at least can be, and as a result the potential is limited. The first month of every year is primarily review. The teachers don't return kids' language arts work-- how am I as a parent supposed to monitor and partner with the school if I don't see what' they're doing regularly?? I've sat in teacher conferences where the teacher spoke nonstop and didn't let me ask a single question...the same thing happened at curriculum night. Biggest problem I have is systemic of public schools -- they teach to the middle. If your kid is on the high end or low end, you have to regularly badger teachers to develop and implement an appropriate GIEP/IEP."

"The school and area are both absolutely amazing. As an extremely concerned parent I felt comfortable sending my shy intorverted child to Hillside. Their staff is loving, patient, enthuastic, intelligent and wonderful. They customize programs soley dependent on your childs needs. There is a reason they are constantly on the list of top schools listed in Newsweek. I feel they are giving my child/children the best start possible in life by entering this environment so young. The number of extracurricular activities is overwhelming. Plenty of variey so your child has many choices. They also encourage parents to be part of the learning process. They want you involved - you are key to your childs academic progression in this school. I recommend this school because they make it easy to raise an intelligent, well mannered child."

"The Hillside Elementary School gives children a warm and safe learning environment. But they emphasize on reading started on kindergarden age. I don't know whether this is a little earlier for kids to complete with others."
