"Small size. Very involved parents and teachers. Safe environment for children and located inside a close knit community. Don't let naysayers tell you different. I have four children in this district and I have been more then satisfied with our experience."

"Avalon Elementary remains a wonerful school for K to 4th grade. Fifth grade is basically a PSSA Prep course. The children are taught to be professional test takers - nothing more, nothing less. When the PSSA tests are done the school year is pretty much done. There are no projects or expanded areas of education taught - only what is on the PSSA test. The art and music programs at the school continue to be wonderful. As of the 2007-2008 school year, with a new administration, all extra curricular activities at the school have been eliminated with the exception of Chorus. This is definitely a PSSA focused school. Children that need extra help will get all of it that they need if it is felt that it will increase the PSSA scores. The school doesn't offer a whole lot for the above average student."

"The Avalon Elementary School, in my opinion, is a wonderful school. I have had several children go through this school, and have never had many complaints. The academic programs are above par. The music and arts programs are outstanding. So many schools are getting rid of these programs and here at Avalon, they remain a priority, and my children have loved being in these classes. Extracurricular activities, such as drama, are also good. Sports, for little girls, needs some work but they are currently working on making that better. I absolutely love Avalon Elementary school, and only wish that Northgate High School would be as good as Avalon."
