"Student involvement isn't super diverse but everything else is. There s barely any peer pressure on campus. People are very excepting when it comes to people's ethnic backgrounds or their sexual orientations. Our campus is very, very diverse ethnically, but the ethnicities tend to group. My group of friends was different though. We had 2 hispanic guys, a chinese guy, a japanese guy, 4 white guys, a middle eastern guy, and a black girl. That covers pretty much everything."

"Amador's teachers are a mixed bunch. I wonder how some of the teachers actually got the job. Also, there is a strong union at PUSD so some of the older teachers just can't be fired no matter how bad they are. Don't get me wrong through, there are some QUALITY teachers at Amador that don't get the respect (or pay) that they deserve. By department: Math: HORRIBLE - Every very math teacher I had was VERY, VERY bad. With that said, Amador students are so good at the STEM subjects that instruction wasn't really needed for us. Although, if there was a struggling student, there is very little help offered after school. History: AMAZING - The complete opposite of the math department. Every class I had for history had very interesting lectures, knowledgeable teachers that went above and beyond, and engaged learning environments. This was always the subject I looked forward to as a result. Science: So so - I'm a little biased to say since I don't enjoy science, but the teachers were never that great. They were always absent and always did the bare minimum. Maybe I just got bad teachers. My physics teacher was actually pretty good, but the class was not engaging at all. The PLTW program for engineering is very good since it has funding outside the school system. Definitely recommend to do all three years of that if you are interested in engineering. English: Pretty good - In my last three years at Amador, I had very knowledgeable teachers that almost seemed like college professors. They really wanted you to succeed and the books we read are actually pretty good. My freshman English teacher stunk but the worst teachers always get demoted to teaching freshman. The best ones are the ones that teach seniors. Physical Education: Well it is PE - Freshman coach was really fun and encouraging. Sophomore coach hated high schooler and probably his job too."

"I'd probably go to Amador again if I could do it all over again. The main reason is because the school is academically recognized and it shows. The campus was always very well kept. Teachers are for the most part very helpful. The people are not great. They group very fast and are extremely competitive with each other. The rallies sucked. Not a ton of clubs to pick from. I had some really good friends, most of which I met my freshman year at Amador. Get some good friends, stick with them, and get good grades so you can get the hell out of there."

"The teachers are a mixed bunch. There's a lot of good teachers in the history and english departments, but some really bad teachers in the science and math departments. The curriculum is very tedious. A difficult course load will result in going to school from 8-3 and then doing homework from 5-11. Scheduling is easy. You will (99% of the time) get the classes you want. I recommend everyone take AP Human Geography. It taught me more than any other class at Amador."
