"Mychildren both have done very well at this school, the teachers are great. The school building could use some updating. The school lunch menu is a joke, while the rest of the world has become health conscience, this districts has done a terrible job of providing healthy school lunches. The band program is great. The amount of recess time for little kids though could be greatly improved."

"Overall, I find that this school does not really welcome parental involvement. While my child is not SPED. he does have some challenges and I have noticed a pattern where they try to deal with difficulties with no input from the parent. Several times my son has had really difficult days and no note was sent home to inform me. And a lot of the parents I know have expressed the feeling that their involvement is neither wanted or appreciated."

"I have had 3 children attend this school. The teachers are highly experienced and there are a wealth of programs for students. I have both gifted and talented children and SPED children. All have been accomodated and challenged. The staff turnover is very low. Parent participation is excellent and this school welcomes parental involvement from the home and school association to classroom volunteering. This is a 5 star school."

"My daughter really enjoys attending West Elementary School and loves her kindergarten teacher. West Elementary is very cautious regarding the safety of the students and offers many good programs during and after school hours. One unique and very positive program they have implemented is one in which the students learn about strong feelings and how to handle them. I think it is a critical area, overlooked by the vast majority of educational institutions and I'm quite impressed with their willingness to address such an issue. Overall I would give West Elementary School a high rating."
