"This school is certainly not the best place to send your kid but it's not the worst either. There are a lot of opportunities here that you don't often find in public schools. The two biggest flaws in this school though are definitely the discipline system and of course the mentally gifted program. Not enough kids are mentally gifted for them to spend much money on it. If you have a permitting budget and you're kid is advanced, send them somewhere else! There are a lot of fights too but most of it can be avoided if you hang with the right crowd."

"Although South Philadelphia has not always been the best in the States test results, this school is making major improvements. I am a senior at South Philadelphia High School. The thing about this school that I like, is that it offers the students chances. Southern gives students numerous of scholarships, activities and college opportunities to achieve. I love that the staff within the school, actually care about the students attending the school."

"A very good city high school. The opportunity for students to get a good quality education is at this school. Many of the discipline problems that occur here are because of students who don't belong in this academic setting. An outstanding principal and teaching staff can be found here."
