"Boyertown Area Senior High School is a terrible school for children with disabilities. I understand that some have many good things to say about the district regarding this topic, however these parents seem to be parents with an outward or well documented medical condition. Those parents who have a child with ADHD or emotional needs suffer the worst as ADHD often only qualifies for a 504 plan and emotional needs are subjective. The 504 works well until high school. At this point the HS takes the stance that success is up to the student and bail on the 504 plan. It was a long hard fought battle with the district that only created a bigger divide by trying to help my child. With no child left behind the district never intended to ensure a child graduates with the skills needed but rather just pass the children through. I inquired with other parents and found this a common complaint from them as well. Boyertown has many lawyers on standby to fight against you and it takes a lot of time and money to fight back. The documentation however helped with the college search to explain the low GPA and test scores. Federal funding for Intermediate units are being cut and phased out. too."

"The great music program Boyertown has. We do musicals that can compare with Broadway."

"I am a graduate of the Boyertown Area School District. Currently, I am guardian to a grandchild attending Boyertown Area Jr. High West. I commend the committment of the teachers, the principal, and assistant principal. My grandchild had difficulties that required a team effort and I worked closely with all those people to get my grandchild on track. The no-nonsense, cooperative effort we adopted in addressing problems has made all the difference and will have life-long benefits for my grandchild. This school went above and beyond and I will be eternally grateful. Finally, for those who may be impacted by negative ratings, I would like to say that parental involvement is essential...teachers cannot run disruption-free classrooms if parents do not communicate behavioral expectations to their children and institute consequences when those expectations are not followed."
