"Perhaps Heather was once a great school with low classroom numbers, but this scenario is part of the past. The class size is more like 23-25 and in some cases two class rooms put together. The teachers are very overwhelmed and do not have time to listen as they seem overworked and underpaid. The children who succeed here attend school all day, and then have their parents/tutors teach them the real material at night. When reading the reviews look at only the reviews after 2013 as now the school is impacted. Also notice the scores of the 2nd grade class in 2013."

"The children eat lunch on the ground. If it rains they eat at their desks. The library got taken away, now it is a "classroom" due to severe overcrowding. Small class sizes the San Carlos ed foundation chants about (to try to get you to donate money) vanish in 4th grade with 30+ students per teacher. Bathrooms are disgusting, and the PE is outsourced to a different company every year. Parents " teach" art as there is no real art teacher. Absolutely nothing offered for kids who are gifted. Don't worry, the school will put to those kids to work helping the remedial learners and numerous ESL students since the teachers are overburdened. Plenty of resources for special learning needs kids and those who ride the bus from East Palo Alto- and they are the only ones who get to take the bus. Lots of favoritism too. Volunteer and fundraise a lot and your child will get the best teachers every year. Working parents, the school doesn't like you."

"Heather is a fantastic school, with a wonderful and supportive learning environment. We have had three children attend Heather over the years, and it has been a positive experience throughout. Parent involvement is welcomed by teachers and staff."

"The principal makes a school and the current one that has been at Heather for over 10 years is excellent. She is a no-nonsense, no BS administrator who is thorough and knows her job well. The teachers are excellent and very caring, and the community is very supportive. Parents volunteer when they can, and are very involved. That is a sign of a great school when the community is fully engaged in their kids' education."

"I can't say enough wonderful things about Heather. We moved here last year and didn't know a single family. They didn't an incredible job introducing new families and giving us opportunities to mingle. My boys thrived and loved their teachers."
