"The teachers put an unhealthy amount of pressure on students, because they know that if the students don't go above and beyond, they won't get a bonus. They teach to the test, not for comprehension, and don't make the information applicable to daily life, so the information is quickly forgotten after you learn it."

"There is ZERO diversity. This school is like a loaf of Wonderbread, white. This school is strongly republican, christian, involved with drugs, sexually active, homophobic, and racist. Generally unaccepting."

"This school made my freshman and sophomore a living, well, you know what I was going to say. Fortunately I was able to leave and go to a different school, but while I was at Ridgefield High School, the amount of pressure put on each and every student to be outstanding was disgusting. Parents and teachers don't care what it takes, or whether or not you are actually learning/retaining anything, they just want you to drown under piles of homework in hopes you will score well on your SATs and AP tests. The overall environment was stuck-up and competitive. The lack of diversity was repulsive, everyone caring more about the car you drove than who you were. People at this school (parents and teachers included) like to think that we are perfect, and that there are no issues, so anyone who struggles with addiction or mental illness is swept under the rug and forgotten about. Students die from drugs and alcohol, and still, the administration refuses to acknowledge that there is a problem. To succeed at this school you must be a cookie cutter Ridgefielder. Good at sports and popular. If you are not an athlete or active in the theater department (which is run by favoritism), you are nobody, and feel alone in the sea of 2,000 people."
