"The teachers are good! Compassionate and caring. Schools needs alittle more focus on tutoring for the students who are struggling."

"My oldest son who just started college went to this elementary school, and now my youngest daughter attends here. They have a new principal who is proactive and the staff is always cohesive and put the students first. I bought my home with the intent of ensuring that my children went to this school. It is fantastic and just keeps getting better."

"My children have attended Magnolia Elementary for 5 years and it has gone extremely down hill starting when the new principal joined Magnolia about 4 years ago. The principal along with many of the teachers at Magnolia are very impatient with children. Just yesterday my son was told by his teacher that she doesn't have time to teach him. I'm a little confused being that she is a teacher, teaching should be all she has time for. If your child has any kind of learning disability the school will completely shun him/her. They DO NOT have patience to deal with children that need special attention or require a little extra effort. I'm hurt by what was said to my son and by the way he has been treated in the last 4 years at Magnolia. I will be looking for a school with teachers willing to teach and teachers who can be more patient. I highly recommend finding a different school for your children."

"We're disappointed in Magnolia Elementary. This school has had several administration changes, and NONE of the teachers we've experienced has pushed our child academically. Part of the problem is RUSD's open district policy. RUSD recently adopted an open district policy. Meaning you don't even have to live here in Riverside to attend an RUSD school. This year it's affecting my child, and probably yours too. My child is an honors student and has been for some time. Yet this year, she has been placed in a combination class with BOTH 5th and 6th grade students. Being concerned, I spoke with a representative of the school, and was told that enrollment is purely based on the numbers of students and has nothing to do with academics. I'm sorry but how does this make sense? As such a bright student, one would think that she would be a prime candidate for a regular or even an advanced class or program like Central's STEM program, alas read below... RUSD touts this new STEM program at Central MS, but enrollment isn't based on academic achievement! Enrollment is loosely application based and lottery. An advanced Sci, Math & Tech class should first go to the brightest. Sincerely, Parent"

"Magnolia used to have a great support system of putting the kids and their families first. That has all changed. There are still a few good teachers here but their hands are tied. Lack of direction, split opinions and a poor economy seems to have really taken its toll."
