"Camden Hills Regional High School is one of the better schools in Mid-Coast Maine and is a relatively new facility, thanks to the dollars that were once here when MBNA was in town. There are some outstanding teachers who are dedicated to education and make the extra effort to challenge their students, communicate with parents, and are available on a consistent basis for help. However, because of the relatively high number of students per teacher, the teachers are swamped and aren't always available for help. Many, many students have to use the local private tutoring services for help and even the school's guidance counselors recommend them. The administration is fair, at best, and are more of the " the crowd control and hall monitor" philosophy as opposed to "educators". There is no student ranking here which a lot of colleges prefer. Drug sniffing dogs were advocated at one point to help control the fairly prolific use of illegal substances, but were turned down. Unfortunately, admitting there is an issue outweighed the benefit of really trying to stem the problem. While, overall, a better school than most in the area due to higher median incomes, it's not perfect."

"Great staff and a very strong administration make this school a model for all of Maine. Two of my children graduated in the past two years and the third is a junior. We are blessed by the education they have received."

"We recently moved in from NJ, and my son is a freshman. I am amazed by the high quality of education in all that I have seen so far : small classes, ample use of the Mac computers lent to each student, high expectations, strong push towards college, easy eccess to the teachers and administration (enthusiastic, well qualified), interest in our children's well-being and personal development, drug and alcohol prevention and intervention, and use of a fantastic computer program that keeps students and parents abreast of each grade for each assignment and quiz.. What a difference from the NJ public schools ! I eagerly look forward to the next four years !"
