"Saline MIddle School has been an excellent experience for my children-academically challenging, nurturing and empowering. We appreciate the strict rules about clothing, gum, cell phone use, etc. as it sets a tone of respect. The teachers and principal have been approachable and enthusiastic. Our children have been active in band and orchestra, both outstanding programs. The proof of the quality of Saline schools is seen in the academic success of our oldest, who is now in his third year at a first-tier university and thriving. Not a perfect school system, but an excellent one."

"Saline Middle School is a breeding ground for hypocrisy. The administration has an incredibly strict cell phone policy, and yet they spend all their time in the halls chattering away on their own iPhones. Sixth graders, who were recently moved into the middle school building, are quarantined in their own little hallway- no one goes in, no one comes out. Struggling students are, in most cases, ignored unless their parents complain. An excellent example of the administration at Saline is the "no short shorts" policy, implemented a few years ago. The entire school was thrown into a frenzy as dozens of girls were sent to the office to change every day. Classes were even disrupted when an administrator came in on several occasions, checking for violations of the policy and punishing the offenders. It was several weeks before the mess worked itself out, although the problem resurfaces every spring. I also find it interesting that the strong supporters of Saline have several grammatical errors in their reviews."

"Saline Middle School is mediocre, at best. Enormous emphasis is placed on athletics and academics, and not much else. Students who struggle with classes must approach their teacher about help, not the other way around. Extremely strict rules (no gum, no hats, etc.) often go ignored by students and staff alike. Elective courses are absurd (such as Business Skills) and foreign languages are pushed. The band program is excellent, however. The administration goes absolutely nuts over some things (like gum and short shorts) and completely ignores others (like cheating). A few teachers are exceptional, but the rest are substandard."
