"You have to be self-motivated to learn and do well, but Lowell offers a variety of extracurriculars and classes to enhance student's educational experience."

"Most students feel pressured to take ap classes. Teachers there are all hit or miss so make sure your teachers are good. Peers are overall pretty nice and there is club for everyone. However, there are quite a lot of students so hallways are always crowded. One of the security guards there is nosy and mean but the other ones are reasonable. It is ridiculous that class starts at 7:30."

"Coming into college I am so thankful I went to Lowell. It game me the chance to be independent and make choices when it came to my education that many other schools in San Francisco do not have. The number of Advanced Placement classes available makes getting a head start in college easy and not only that but those were some of the best classes I have taken thus far. That said, many of the teachers at lowell are under tenure and should not continue to work at Lowell, a school that is considered one of the best high schools in the nation, although they are protected. Generally those teachers were lazier in their teaching style, using old and dry methods to attempt to teach their subjects."

"The school is very much academically focused. Given this culture, school as a whole might overlook the mental health of its students. Despite the school's efforts to change the structure, the institution remains a place full of stressed and sleep-deprived students."

"Lowell High School is the kind of school that I would only recommend for a certain type of student. The environment is competitive, both in academics as well in social and extra curricular activities. Overall, I enjoyed my time there because of the friends I made and the programs I got involved in, particularly within their performing arts department, but this academic pressure did sometimes take a toll. If I were to see certain things change at the school, it would be the overall competitiveness and intensity."
