"The teachers at San Jose High have their students engaged in class activities. They have varieties of teaching skills like a sophmore teacher at San Jose creates plays or utilizes dramatic scenes to emphasize the world cultures of America. As a senior, my spanish teacher utilizes the technique of everything or nothing which consists of whether the students did all of their homework and get the credit or get a 0 on the grade book. The technique has the student make conscience about their grade and motivates them to keep their grade up. A math teacher at San Jose High uses the technique of reviewing for tests by making groups of people and solving problems. For the seniors who are very conscious about applying to colleges and the fafsa program, there is a group of counselors that are ready to work with them. San Jose High school has an engaging faculty that are prepared to work and help their students."

"When I was in middle school, my mother wanted me to attend Lincoln High school but I chose to stay closer to home so I went to San Jose High school. Once I was there, the rumours and the image described about San Jose High: gang-related students, trouble-makers, and ghetto school was quite contrasting to what was said. I experienced and learned that the students at San Jose High are provided with great quality classes and well-prepared teachers. The students are given the chance to attend the Tink Tank program afterschool where several teachers stay afterschool to tutor them. During recess and lunch time, the library is open to everyone and the students have the chance to utilize computers to use the internet for school purposes and have printing priveledges. The cafeteria has variety of food selections like hamburgers, salads, orange chicken with rice, pizza, sandwiches and fruit. I like that the school offers the IB program to the students, I think it's a great program for the students to experience what it's like in a college environment. The need to take notes, ask questions, do well-elaborated essays and labs. The IB program also gives the student the opportunity to take their exams and if they do pass it, then they are given college credit which will best help their financial aid. Also, the students at San Jose High school are friendly, if anybody needs help, it's always there, whether it's from the administrators or teachers. If I was given to chance to attend San Jose High school all over again, I would definitely do it because the spirit that the students have in this school is motivating and engaging."

"The students are respected in regards to their ethnic/racial diversity. The administration and teachers are aware if a student is bullied or disrespected then something will get done to stop bullying."

"San Jose High school is a school that has connections with the IB program. I like that they offer the IB program because it prepares the juniors and seniors for college levels. Also, the students are able to earn college credit when involved in the IB program. When applying to college and universities, the fact that a student has been able to show that they have been involved in the IB program and are prepared for college levels, the students are seen as high achieving students. I would definitely recomend San Jose High school as a school that prepares their students to be successful in college."
