"My overall experience at this school was great. My sophomore year at Drake I decided to transfer to another school for my Junior year just to have a different experience. But once I had transferred, I couldn't wait to go back to Drake for my Senior year. What makes this school unique is the students. And I'm not the only one who thinks so. All the teachers agree and have spoken about the students that make up Drake High School, that they are unique and therefore make the school so special."

"The atmosphere of Drake High School makes up for the few teachers that struggle to engage their students. Overall, it's a great school, but a few teachers feel unapproachable and are a bit intimidating. Each teacher has their own teaching style wherever you go to school, Drake is unique in that it has those few five star teachers that are outstanding and really do everything they can for their students to understand the curriculum while also engaging them in class. My senior year, my AP Biology teach, Mrs. Berry, was one of those outstanding, five star teachers. AP Biology was the most difficult class I had ever taken and Mrs. Berry went above and beyond to help me get through the class. Her communication with every student in the class was impeccable and unlike any other teacher I've ever had. Not only was her communication with the students amazing, but she had a relationship with every student which helped when it came to grading. She was always fair when it came to grading and always knew the students that worked extra hard to get to where they wanted."

"Some teachers try more than others to really help the students get better at what they don't understand and give them many chances to give them better grades. But then some teachers let the students take over and don't say a thing about, which isn't helpful for the students who really want to learn. And in some classes we do lots of group projects, like one project ends and another one begins. And learning that way is hard because students don't take the time to process information the way they would taking notes or listening to lectures. The teachers also use to many grading sites, like there is one for official grades and one to turn in homework assignments to, which is confusing because they don't update the grades for the homework website."

"Drake has a really great and open atmosphere. When you first start school and see how things are run you can see that most teachers and students are accepting of who you are, especially if you are from the LGBT+ community. We have bathrooms that are open for boys or girls to use if they identify as a boy or girl, which is probably very appreciative for those students. Drake also has SLC which are small learning communities. The communities are really heavily project based, one is based on the arts and drama, and the others are based on sciences, history, and current word problems. But they really help you improve your writing skills and public speaking skills because during each project we learn new writing tactics to help persuade our audience or to make them really feel as we present our current projects. The counselors are really a big help as well with your education or your personal life. They are always there to talk. I would definitely choose Drake again because even though I've faced a lot of challenges with my education and personal life, I always had friends and my counselor to really help me when I needed them. Drake and the teachers are making me the person I'll be when I head off to college. Its help making me who I will be and that is definitely someone i'm going to like."

"I would choose to go to Drake again, but there are definitely things that could improvehink the students are supportive of each other, for the most part. The small learning communities are great, but I'm worried what they are going to look like in the future. Students are supportive of each other and the advanced classes are very engaging."
